Into The Blue - Open Edition print by Tom Schoeller
Late one afternoon I had been exploring the southern New England coastline waters of the Long Island sound. You could say, I was delighted to locate this abandoned pier before the tide would completely roll back in.
I set my tripod up very low, wanting to create a long almost infinite view through the derelict structure right "Into the Blue". I remember admiring the fantastic detail of these old wooden structures and knew I would need to be spot on to capture the sharpness and clarity and allow the viewers to interpret the scene. I was able to make several exposures up close, allowing the structure to literally "frame itself" in an almost perfect symmetry.
