Was excited to find this vintage 1950's GM pickup truck in a Montana field during a 2014 photo session. I felt the classic truck told such a unique story about the Rocky Mountain front, as living in spacious country with lack of expendable income is an incentive for owners to keep their vehicles running and roadworthy.
I envisioned the final print immediately, the truck had such character and I wanted to let it's character flow onto the viewer. I tilted the angle of the scene slightly, doing this gives the artwork a dynamic tension. A level horizon works for a magazine photo shoot, but in this case a level horizon makes for a static image.
I use a processing technique uniquely my own to create a painterly effect on my fine art photographs. Often times they are mistaken for a painting as realism.
