As a photographer with both feet into Fine Art, I love the challenge of exploring the landscape for more intimate, hidden and subtle details. To me, the challenge is part of the journey.
The simplicity of this setting was wonderful and absolutely serene. This was seen and created on Jordan Pond - Acadia National Park, Maine. Just as the sun had set, the post lighting and color hues were spectacular.
Before the pinkish pastel sky reflections off the calm waters faded I managed to make half a dozen exposures at slightly different compositions. I needed to use a mid-telephoto lens to isolate this narrow trail of pond reeds.
Of the six exposures, I felt two of them were truly worthy of sharing and expressed my visions and communicating the real Zen like experience of being there. This is one of the two, a wide frame version allowing the reeds to spread edge to edge at a slightly diagonal angle. My other version is an almost perfectly square format, and a much closer and lower crop. However when compared to this much wider landscape, the reeds to the right are gradually spaced further from largest on the left. This print provides a greater sense of depth.
